And God said, “Let There Be Light”

Hot Springs at Lake Bogoria, Kenya

You know the story, “and there was light”. For those that have no idea what this is all about; hang on; you are in the right place. As for the rest of you, please help me do justice to this and every topic on this blog. Basically what I am trying to say is, its okay to comment. I don’t bite.

Now the title of this article is pulled from the book of Genesis the first chapter  and third verse and the rest covers the whole of Genesis Chapter One. I think this is a great place start. Seeing this is the first article on the Lighter Side of God, this is also where it all started as far as Christianity is concerned.

It looks to me like God had had enough of hanging out in the dark. The previous verse clearly says that the earth was formless and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

No; really. That must have been a drag. Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you just get fed up with the way things are going on in your life? I mean; when gloom just stares back at you with every opportunity that’s presented to it?

You get up in the morning; take one look into the mirror and end up throwing your entire day to the wind as it dawns on you that you now have to suffer another day in the midst of yourself. That’s okay. You see the thing is, the Lord Almighty was in that situation and quite frankly, would have stayed in that situation until He decided to put His foot down and say something about it. Ah – its all about the power of the tongue.

I kind of picture this like sort of a way attending a live classical concert. All three hundred instrumentalists dressed in black tuxedos. Pristine polished brass-ware…  You get the picture. Now God; like the conductor, is busy waving his wand… ahem! Rather Words. The earth is playing a carefully choreographed set back to God’s Words.

Tsunami? What Tsunami? At this point oceans are roaring as magnificent water falls within the ocean its self. Waterfalls as high as the the sky is from the earth. Again Tsunami you say? I don’t think so.

Volcanoes in other parts of the world are going off left right and center bellowing their smoke like a scene from Marvel 3D movie. The Great Rift valley at this point is suffering a splitting headache that stretches all the way from Israel to the Indian Ocean in the South which as its rocks can longer bear the load and something has got to give. You get the picture.

Day after day the greatest spectacle this earth has ever seen is tipping the Box Office charts as Angels are all perched up on the loftiest places on the most magnificent scattered clouds watch in awe the stuff that God is working on.

To the bemusement of the winged crowds, never did they expect to see it like it is when the color popularly known as green, starts rolling down the hills of clay, the smell of the meadows as fresh grass and all manner of green foliage covers all the dry land and the shallows of the tropical seas.

Just when they thought it couldn’t get any better the Lord God almighty stretches out and sucks the color right out of the light spectrum and spits it onto the plants and the most amazing flowers bloom.

Now that must have been a sight to behold. Nothing like no Autumn has ever experienced. Nothing no spring has been able to reconstruct to this day. Now, that’s the God we ought to serve each and every day of our lives.

Suddenly! The rumbling of hoofs is heard in the distance. Looks like the show isn’t over yet. There is a multitude of wild and domestic animals united as one ,  unlike those witnessed in the great Wilderness Migrations of the Serengeti and Masai Mara in East Africa. This I can assure you was nothing like that. This involved all species you could ever think of.  What you all saw on Jurassic Park I, II and III was small time. Okay; definitely without the people running around scared screaming for their dear lives. Maybe people running scared could have probably added flavor to the show, but what the heck, am just here for the show too and God wrote the script like He chose to out of His own wisdom.

You would think that this was meant to bring closure to the light show that appeared before the animals appeared on the scene. Maybe to tone down the excitement like the tea or coffee served after a hearty meal at a gourmet restaurant.

So, it was as the audience was being entertained earlier by the plant life below, they found out that they were right smack in the middle of the largest theater on earth. Above them a light show was taking place in the heavens, as billions of stars where getting prepared to give out their best they have ever done still not yet seen in this day and age.

I have no words to describe the quality and budget of the show. All that comes out of my mind when I try to describe it is; SUPERNOVA!

English is such a shallow language. I think we need a stimulus plan of words to boost the language, maybe expand it by about another ten thousand or so words.

Back, well, rather fast-forward to day six. God had another plan up His sleeves. No literally; He did. It was called Man. That’s right; you and me. Out of the dust of the earth; God, the composer and conductor of the show, He just had to do some stuff personally. With a quick precision of a surgeon crossed with a krap lie dance and to top it off, a final breathe… and life was found in man.

And God would turn around and take His seat. For He rested.

It surely is not necessary for us to go over board and create the entire universe when we find our lives shut out in the dark with no one to turn to. We hover up and down in the cold waiting. With no hope to our names. We are desperate we are at a place where change is paramount in our hearts.

The good news is… there is a way out.

If God found it good to achieve all that He did in six days things which we as men have been unable to achieve since Adam stepped up to the plate about six thousand years ago. Surely we can use our words to achieve less trivial challenges we face today. Just as God showed us. The entire Bible backs this notion but for now we just have to know this little truth…

The words we have at our disposal come in the form of Prayer and Praise.
