The day has come to an end here on the Fourth of July which is the more commonly name for Independence day, which is a federal holiday in USA. The fourth of July commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Seeing this is a day to remember freedom, I took time off to reflect on some the blessings which we take so much for granted.

The thing about the Holy Bible is that no one can deny knowing a couple of verses right out the top of their head. Maybe I give too much credit to that fact but many people may not know certain passages off head but at least they’ll have a slight idea of what the Bible has to say. I say this as one who spent quality time in local bars and pubs sipping on beer and roast meat (Nyama Choma) about a decade ago with Bible was a huge topic.

Some of us have been privileged to have brothers we have grown up with in our lives, boy it surely can be hell sometimes. They can be rude, obnoxious, outright uncaring and bullies to the younger siblings in the household. Be they domineering or whatever, that’s just what brothers can be.

Even in tough times as the global recession takes its toll on the masses, the Lord our God is still working in the hearts of those that are willing to listen to the call of God on their lives.

The reality of life is this. There is not one man; or woman for that matter who is perfect. That does not go to say that we should not strive for perfection. Quite the contrary that is really why we should strive for perfection. The key word here is “Strive”. If we were perfect then we would not really have to strive because it would be second nature to attain perfection.
